Wright wins prestigious award for book
UofL Depression Center director, Jesse Wright, MD, PhD, was awarded the 2009 British Medical Association Medical Book Award in the mental health category for his book, “Cognitive Behavior-Therapy for Severe Mental Illness: An Illustrated Guide.”
The BMA Medical Book Awards were established in 1996 following a pilot awards program in 1995. The awards aim to encourage and to reward excellence in medical publishing. The awards are administered by the Library for the Board of Science. The main objective is to encourage the production of high-quality medical books. Prizes are awarded in 21 categories, with an overall BMA Medical book of the year award made from the category winners.
This book follows Wright’s earlier, best-selling contribution, “Learning Cognitive-Behavior Therapy: An Illustrated Guide," which has become the standard text for teaching psychiatrists the evidence-based methods of cognitive-behavior therapy.
