Family and Geriatric Medicine resident named to national medical board
A resident in UofL’s Department of Family and Geriatric Medicine has been selected to serve on the prestigious Board of Governors of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP).
Ronna Compton, D.O., is now the only resident member of the Board of Governors of the ACOFP, the osteopathic sister organization of the American Academy of Family Physicians. The ACOFP administers the osteopathic Family Medicine Board certification exam.
“The Board of Governors represents the highest national leadership of the ACOFP and is its governing body,” said Steven Wheeler, M.D., senior faculty for resident education in UofL’s family and geriatric medicine residency training program. “Each year, only one resident is chosen to serve to represent the voice of residents. Congratulations to Dr. Compton for receiving this honor and to ACOFP for making such a wise decision.”
Dr. Compton came to UofL in 2007 after earning her medical degree from the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has served on numerous professional committees and task forces at both the local and national level since 2004.
