Emergency notification now available by cell phone, e-mail

Students, faculty and staff may sign up now to receive automatic notices regarding campus emergencies, delivered straight to your cell phone and e-mail accounts.

Effective Oct. 1, 2008, members of the university community will no longer receive campus emergency e-mail messages from the UofL Today e-mail account.

Instead, emergency messages will be issued by the same service that sends out cell-phone text messages.

This means that emergency e-mail messages will go out at the same time as emergency cell-phone text messages, creating a seamless and consistent notification system.

First notification by campus VOIP telephone will remain unchanged and does not require action on your part.

For more information about the UofL Alert system and to sign up for cell-phone and e-mail notifications or modify your settings, go to http://louisville.edu/alerts.
