Gina
Wesley, Ph.D. - Director of the Standardized Patient Program
As Director,
Gina oversees operations and secures funding for the program. She
began the program in 2000 and currently works in conjunction with
many federal and state agencies to enhance preparedness for the
state of Kentucky. Gina has several publications regarding the use
of standardized patients for medical education. A

Jackie
Krugler - Assistant Director of the Standardized Patient Program
Jackie joined
the SP Program in 2001 as an standardized patient and began working
as the program coordinator and trainer in 2003. Jackie oversees
the daily activities of the standardized patient program. She designs
and implements training sessions, assists with case development,
maintains clinic scheduling and promotes the program at regional
and national events. Her curriculum

Michelle
Thompson - Moulage Expert and CDC Grant Coordinator
Michelle Thompson
has been with the program since 2000. She began as a patient then
served as an interim trainer until the fall of 2002 when a grant
for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention presented the
program with the opportunity to assist in bioterrorism training
for healthcare providers and first responders. An integral part
of this training is the use of moulage (makeup applied to the SPs
to simulate disease states). Michelle was trained on moulage techniques
by Jerry Crotzenberg , a moulage artist with the US Army, and is
now the moulage expert for University of Louisville.

Deonna
Williams - Patient Simulation Specialist
Deonna Williams
began as an SP in 2003. She is now a Patient Simulation Specialist.
She not only assists in the application of moulage but also with
the operation of the portable patient simulation mannequins (ECS
METIS). These state-of-the-art mannequins can realistically
portray the physiology of a victim resulting from an act of terrorism.
