Research Facilities
The Division of Cardiology includes the Institute of Molecular Cardiology, which has outstanding research facilities available to carry out both physiology and molecular/cellular studies. On the first floor of the MDR Building, approximately 3,200 square feet are available to perform physiologic studies in mice, rats, rabbits, and pigs. On the first floor of the Baxter I Research Buildings and on the fourth floor of the Baxter II Research Building, approximately a total of 22,000 square feet provides outstanding space for molecular/cellular cardiology studies. In addition, the Institute of Molecular Cardiology has approximately 2,000 square feet of research space in the Jewish Hospital Heart and Lung Cardiovascular Research Center on Floyd Street. Essentially all of the facilities necessary to carry out integrated physiology, cell biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology are available, including state-of-the-art equipment.
