Advanced Cardiac Support Unit
The Advanced Cardiac Support Unit at the University of Louisville Heart & Vascular Institute is a referral center for the most complex cases from around Kentuckiana designed for the care of patients with cardiogenic shock, those with unstable acute coronary syndromes and/or those with mechanical left ventricular assist devices requiring intensive monitoring and around-the-clock clinical care. The unit is staffed by University of Louisville and Jewish Hospital cardiologists, cardiology fellows and house physicians, who are available at all times to provide care to patients and speak to their families. The CCU is also staffed by skilled ICU nurses, pharmacists, dieticians, and respiratory/physical and occupational therapists.

- Expertise in various forms of percutaneous ventricular assist devices, extreacorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and peripheral cardiopulmonary support (CPS) is available around the clock
