Leonard Leight, M.D. 
Professor Emeritus of Medicine

Dr. Leonard Leight graduated from Washington University, St. Louis, in 1945.  He received his training in cardiology at Wayne State University in Detroit.  Following completion of his training, he became Instructor of Medicine at Wayne State University and subsequently was appointed Chief of Cardiology at the University of Louisville in 1954.  He served in this capacity for 12 years.  In 1965, he started a very successful private practice group in Louisville and retained his affiliation with the University of Louisville as a Clinical Professor of Medicine.  He is presently Professor Emeritus at the University of Louisville.

For the past 29 years, until July 1996, Dr. Leight was active in the practice of cardiology in Louisville.  Since January 1997, he has been attending physician at the University of Louisville Heart Clinic and also attending physician at one of the Heart Clinics at the affiliated Veterans Administration Hospital.  He has played a major role in developing cardiology services in this city and bringing new innovative modalities of treatment for heart disease.
