Research Integrity Survival Skills and Research Ethics

Description: The course will involve both didactic lectures and student discussions that will be integrated into the 1 hour lecture period. Students will be graded on their performance in participation and attendance. The topics covered in this course will be discussions of the skills that are necessary to become a functional scientist. Specific lectures will cover critical reading, grant writing, paper writing, and topics such as choosing advisors. In addition, the course will cover ethical issues that relate directly to the latter lectures, as well as current biomedical problems that present difficult choices for the medical researcher. The course will be composed of didactic lectures, discussion sessions with vignettes, and video sessions with faculty-guided breakout discussion groups.
