Information on the Digital Darkroom

A digital darkroom has been developed using pentium-based computers. This system has the ability to scan negatives of any size, scan 35 mm slides, scan prints or transparencies, scan microscope slides using the Pathscan adapter, obtain digital images from a microscope or regular photography using the Pixera camera and obtain journal quality prints. Images are manipulated with Adobe Photoshop and archived with a CD-ROM writer. The printing is done using a HP PhotoSmart printer. We have found that this printer is superior to dye-sublimation printers. All computers are linked through an ethernet so that images may be transfered quickly and easily. Several Journal covers have been published using our system.
