Robert hired on with the University in the fall of 2007. Prior to that he worked for five years as a staff photographer for the Jeffersonville Evening News and New Albany Tribune. He also worked as an Electronics Technician at Pellissippi State Technical Community College in Knoxville, Tennessee. He lives in Jeffersonville with his wife, Virginia and has two daughters and eight grandchildren. He and his wife have also hosted several exchange students from places like Japan, Spain, and Sweden. He enjoys travel,  playing music, and riding motorcycles.
