St. Baldrick's Fundraiser

St. Baldrick's Fundraiser

University of Louisville School of Medicine hosted our first St. Baldrick's event in February 2012. During that academic year, a couple brave medical students approached the Office of Medical Student Affairs asking for our support of the event. After months of planning, three medical students volunteered to shave their heads and raise money for children's cancer research. In total, those three medical students raised $3919.00.

In the past two years, the St. Baldrick's committee has raised over $15,000.00! A huge thank you to everyone who has been involved in this program.

This year, our St. Baldrick's event is scheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2014 in the Kornhauser Auditorium. The committee is working hard to reach their goal of $10,000. More than ten students have volunteered to have their heads! In addition to shaving heads, we also added an additional component to our event. This year, students also have the option to cut at least 8 inches of their hair and donate it to an organization that makes wigs for cancer patients.

In an extra effort to raise as much money as possible, the committee has asked local businesses to donate gift cards or other items we can raffle off at our event. Committee members will be selling raffle tickets the week leading up to the St. Baldrick's event.

In addition to the raffle tickets, a penny war has started between Advisory Colleges. Penny war buckets will be available the same time as the raffle ticket sales.
