'Ancient Shade' by Doyle Glass is among 46 works up for auction to benefit Art to Beat Cancer 2013.

Forty-six paintings by 15 artists are up for auction online through a program to support research at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center at the University of Louisville.

Art to Beat Cancer 2013 features works representing a variety of subject matter including landscape, still life and figure. Bidding is now being conducted online at www.biddingforgood.com/ATBC2013 and will end at the Art to Beat Cancer 2013 Benefit Friday, Nov. 22. The event will be held 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Green Building, 732 E. Market; bidding will close at 8:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Proceeds from the event will go to a fund established by one of the participating artists and his wife to benefit the cancer center. The Doyle and Kim Glass Developmental Therapeutics Fund supports James Graham Brown Cancer Center researchers in creating and developing new drugs for cancer treatment.

The sale of each painting will be matched by the Veritas Curat Foundation, also founded by Glass and dedicated to the support, through fine art, of research into how cancer develops in order to better treat and prevent the disease.

Organizers hope to raise at least $62,800, the amount that would be generated if each painting receives its minimum bid.

In addition to Glass, artists who have donated work to the event are Jeaneen Barnhart, Eric Bowman, Jill Carver, Glenn Dean, Bato Dugarzhapov, Lynn Dunbar, Mark Haworth, Kevin Macpherson, Wanda Macpherson, LaRue Mahlke, C.W. Mundy, Meagan Robson, Michele Usibelli and Dan Young.
