Scholarships

The Medical School Admissions Office will award all UofL scholarships to incoming students based on academic merit, MD/PhD, rural county of residence or underrepresented in medicine status. The Admissions Office will notify individual students in writing if they are selected for the UofL scholarship; no application is needed. Please contact the Admissions Office if you have any questions.

Military Scholarships

The Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) offers prospective military physicians a paid medical education in exchange for service as a commissioned medical department officer. Programs are available in the United States Army, the United States Navy, and the United States Air Force. National Medical Fellowships - Scholarships

Eligibility for these scholarships is as follows:

Offered primarily to first- and second-year medical students, these scholarships are granted on the basis of financial need and underrepresentation in medicine.

Underrepresented minorities in medicine are racial/ethnic groups whose representation among health professionals is disproportionately low compared to their proportion of the general population.

In determination for eligibility for participation in its programs, NMF designates the following racial/ethnic groups as "underrepresented minority":

  • African American
  • Hispanic/Latino
  • Native Americans (American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian)
  • Asian American (Vietnamese and Cambodian only)
  • Pacific Islander

National Health Service Corps Scholarships

You can apply to the Scholarship Program if you are committed to primary care and accepted to or enrolled in a fully accredited training program for Physicians (MD or DO).
