The Office of Faculty Affairs has the opportunity each year to nominate faculty members as candidates for awards that recognize outstanding individuals.
The Gratis Faculty Award
The Gratis Faculty Award is given to one of our gratis faculty who has demonstrated outstanding teaching skills. It is presented to the recipient at the School of Medicine's Fall Honors Convocation in November.
Kentucky Medical Association Educational Achievement Award
The Kentucky Medical Association Educational Achievement Award is for a resident of Kentucky who has made a significant contribution in medical or medically related education which includes all areas of teaching, research, clinical application in medical practice, patient education and ancillary involvement (civic, professional society, etc.).
Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award
The Humanism Award, sponsored by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, recognizes annually one faculty member and one graduating medical student who embodies compassion and sensitivity in the delivery of care to patients and their family members.
The President's Distinguished Service Awards
The Distinguished Service Awards recognize the excellent service to UofL faculty and the significant impact that service has on the University and beyond. The awards are given annually to faculty who have made exceptional service contributions to the following five categories:
- Service of UofL
- Service to the profession
- Service to the community, the Commonwealth and/or the region
- National/International Service
- Career of Service (should be some combination of the above)
