SkINternal Medicine: Dermatology for the Primary Care Provider - April 13, 2018

This first annual conference is designed for and geared towards primary care providers, including physicians and Nurse Practitioners in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics, and Dermatology NPs and PAs. This course consists of interactive lectures covering high yield, bread and butter dermatology topics including acne, psoriasis, dermatitis, moles, skin infections, and more. Attendees will learn about diagnosis and management of common skin conditions from experienced dermatologists.

University of Louisville, Division of Dermatology Spring Meeting 2018 - April 20, 2018

This year the focus of our course is on Pediatric Dermatology. The meeting will begin with presentation of patients with dermatologic problems that are challenging in terms of diagnosis, management or are classic examples of diseases seen in children. Since the focus is on diseases of children, the patients presented will likely be those with Genodermatoses, inflammatory or neoplastic conditions. Examination of the patients will be followed by a discussion in which relevant pathology is discussed as well as diagnostic and management considerations. The case discussion will be followed by a one-hour lecture delivered by our visiting professor, Moise Levy, MD from Dell Children’s Hospital and the University of Texas, Austin on “Pediatric Dermatology Potpourri.” The session will conclude with a CLIA test.

Advances in Neurology 2018 - May 19, 2018

The 10th annual Advances in Neurology course hosted by the University Of Louisville Department Of Neurology will be held in conjunction with the annual spring meeting of the Commonwealth Neurological Society. The conference will offer continuing medical education credit, as well as, continuing education credit for nurses, nurse practitioners, psychologists and other allied health professionals. This year’s focus will be on neuromuscular disease, an area within neurology which is quite common, can be perplexing for providers, and has undergone significant recent advances.

University of Louisville and James Graham Brown Cancer Center Neuro-oncology Symposium 2018 - July 14, 2018

This symposium will present a multidisciplinary approach needed for the care and treatment of patients with neuro-oncological diseases in order to educate and inform health care providers, patients, and their caregivers about best current practices and future treatment and rehabilitation directions for patients with neuro-oncologic diseases. Several disciplines will be represented including neurosurgery, neurology, radiation oncology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neuropathology, and neuro-oncology. It is also expected that this cross-sectional platform will stimulate innovative and insightful research in research in a collaborative environment and improve the regional standard of care.

7th annual ISPCOP symposium 2018: Point-of-Care Ultrasound in Patients with Morbid Obesity - October 15, 2018

The main focus of the symposium is to discuss various applications of ultrasound in the morbidly obese patient in the operating room as well as in the intensive care unit. Furthermore, the symposium will give an overview of the latest development in ultrasound-based diagnostics. One portion of the symposium will include hands-on demonstrations of various organ systems including the airway, stomach, and assessment of heart and lungs.
