The Kentucky State University Alumni Association Breast Cancer Awareness Walk/Run will focus on raising funds and awareness in honor of Crystal Woodard, a graduate of Kentucky State University (KSU) who currently is receiving treatment for triple-negative breast cancer. Funds raised at the 2019 event will benefit the UofL James Graham Brown Cancer Center. The group’s goal is to raise $10,000.00 and to promote healthy lifestyles. Kentucky State University, the National Alumni Association of Kentucky State University, several campus organizations and alumni are organizing the 3K walk and 5K run event. Triple-negative breast cancer affects African-American women at a significantly higher rate than white and Asian women.
