Dr. Michael L. Rowland has been appointed Associate Dean of the School of Medicine for Diversity Initiatives.
Dr. Rowland joined University of Louisville in 2009 as an assistant professor in the School of Medicine and also serves as Director of the Certificate in Health Professions Education program, a unique program supported through a partnership between the College of Education & Human Development and the School of Medicine. The objective of the Certificate program is to provide health professions faculty with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed as educators in an academic career. Dr. Rowland also served as Director of the Medical Education Research Unit.
In his new role, he develops, promotes, and directs initiatives to enhance the workforce diversity, cultural competency training and campus climate and inclusion issues. Dr. Rowland is available to provide support to School of Medicine faculty, staff and students for issues of recruitment, retention and diversity training. Dr. Rowland is available to assist University of Louisville School of Medicine search committees with successfully executing the faculty search process.
