Daniel Jackson, M.D., has been selected as APA’s 2015-2016 Jeanne Spurlock Congressional Fellow. Jackson is a second-year psychiatry resident at the University of Louisville. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine and a member of the Advocacy and Policy Subcommittee of the Greater Louisville Medical Society. He is also an in-training delegate for the Kentucky Medical Association and serves as the Kentucky Psychiatric Medical Association’s representative for the University of Louisville. He will begin his fellowship on Capitol Hill next month.

The APA Jeanne Spurlock Congressional Fellowship is an opportunity for residents, fellows, and early career psychiatrists to represent the profession of psychiatry on Capitol Hill and work with federal policymakers to shape public policy. Fellows traditionally help develop legislative proposals, track and analyze legislative initiatives, arrange hearings, brief members of Congress and their staffs, and interact with constituents. A call for applications for 2016 will be announced in late fall.
