Dr. Parthasarathy received his undergraduate degree in chemistry and two masters and doctor of philosophy in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Madras, India. He completed his post doctoral training at the National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Maryland in Biochemistry, Neuroscience and Neurochemistry. Prior to joining the faculty in 1993, Dr. Parthasarathy was a Senior Research Scientist and Molecular Biologist in the Molecular Neuroscience Research Lab at the University of Tennessee. He has secured continuous funding as a principle investigator from the VA Merit Review Major Grant program for his research related to mood stabilizing medications and the brain inositol signaling system.
