Dr. Knox received her Bachelor's Degree from Wittenberg University in 1979.  She obtained her Medical Degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1983.  Dr. Knox completed and internship in Medicine/Neurology/Psychiatry in 1983 and completed her Psychiatry residency in 1987 from Medical University of South Carolina.  Dr. Knox has been board certified in Psychiatry since 1989.

Dr. Knox won the Residents' Faculty Recognition Award in 1989 (MUSC Dept of Psychiatry), the Chairman's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1988 (MUSC Dept of Psychiatry), Upjohn Pharmaceuticals Young Investigator Award in 1986, and the American Medical Student Association Golden Apple Award in 1985.  She was also a Health Tap Top Psychiatrist in Indiana in 2013.  Dr. Knox was the Chief Resident at MUSC Department of Psychiatry from 1988-1989.
