My general research interests are in composite tissue transplantation (CTA) and cardiovascular research.  In CTA, my focus has been on developing novel therapies that protect the endothelial barrier from ischemia/reperfusion injury following tissue transplantation. My laboratory has developed a novel technology that rapidly incorporates therapeutic molecules on the surface of the endothelium to protect it from being injured after transplantation.  One application of this technology consists of delivering anti-complement or anti-thrombotic therapies to protect grafts from ischemia/reperfusion induced damage. My research interest in cardiovascular research has been on cardiac electrophysiology and arrythmogenesis. Currently I'm collaborating with Dr. Tyagi to examine a novel arrythmogenic mechanisms induced in patients suffering from hyperhomocysteinemia.
