Learning Objectives: 1) Be familiar with key evolutionary events, tragedies and advances in newborn drug therapies. 2) Understand the changing regulatory, ethical, and scientific drug development and drug therapies for newborn babies. 3) Be familiar with the importance of drug dosing and the biochemical-molecular pharmacologic basis of neonatal pharmacotherapy. 4) Know the unmet needs and ongoing challenges in drug therapies of the newborn.

Disclosure(s): Dr. Aranda has received research grants from NIH/NICHD and Chiesi Laboratories for research on pharmacology in the newborn and drug discoveries respectively. He also intends to reference off-label/unapproved uses of drugs/devices.
