Genetic Counselors

Health professionals who help families understand genetic testing, the cause of genetic conditions, and the implications for other family members.

Kelly Jackson, MS, CGC, Manager of Genetic Services
Philosophy of Care:  As a genetic counselor, my goal is to obtain patient histories that aid in determining an underlying diagnosis for the patient, and then communicate all information known about the condition diagnosed or presenting concern in a way that the patient/family understands.  One goal of genetic counseling is to provide information for families or patients to make decisions for themselves.  Genetic information can be complex and my job is to make it less complex and understandable to anyone who comes for a genetic appointment.
