  • We were the first medical consultation service in the state of Kentucky to evaluate suspected victims of physical abuse and neglect
  • Our team has written the core content for statewide training modules that are being provided as a result of House Bill 285.  Thousands of nurses and other professionals have been trained
  • Our faculty provides the medical examination component for our local child advocacy center, which assesses and provides treatment for suspected victims of child sexual abuse
  • Pediatric Forensic Medicine faculty and staff sit on a number of state and local committees that impact the safety of children
  • Dr. Melissa Currie was the first board-certified child abuse pediatrician in Kentucky
  • We participate as a major site in an NIH-funded study on bruising patterns in children
  • We began an ACGME-accredited Child Abuse Pediatrics (CAP) Fellowship in July of 2012
