Barina Aqil, M.D


Dr. Aqil is an AP/ CP and Hematopathology board certified pathologist. She obtained her medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College at Aligarh Muslim University in Aligarh, India and followed it by completing a residency in Pathology from the same institution. She then embarked upon a residency in AP/CP Pathology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Tx which she completed in 2015.  She subsequently went on to complete her Fellowship in Hematopathology in 2016 at Washington University School of Medicine/ Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO followed by another specialized Fellowship in Head & Neck Pathology at WashU/ BJH.

Dr. Aqil has had several publications in reputed peer reviewed Journals of Pathology. Her work has also been presented in nationally and internationally renowned conferences including USCAP, CAP, AACC, EAHP/ IAH, SPP & TSP. She was honored with the prestigious Gordon F. Vawter award by Society of Pediatric Pathology during their annual meeting in Spring, 2014 and was also recognized by the Department of Pathology at Baylor College of Medicine in 2015 who presented her their Resident Research Award. She obtained her AP/CP and Hematopathology board certifications in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

Dr. Aqil is committed to a career in teaching and research. Her current research interests include Hematopathology and Head & Neck Pathology.
