AMBULATORY OUTPATIENT CLINIC SITES

HCOC

U of L Health - Health Care Outpatient Center

    • PGY-4 and PGY-1 residents on the Benign Gynecology rotation and the PGY-2 resident on the Out-patient Ambulatory Surgery rotation manage a half-day clinic twice a week.

The patient is followed post-operatively by the primary operating resident. This design follows our mission of providing the resident and patient with optimal continuity of care.

HOSPITAL SITES

At each site, residents provide pre-operative, operative, and post-operative care for patients. Physician attendings scrub in on each case providing supervision and teaching. Residents are gradually allowed greater autonomy as their level of experience and competency in each surgical arena increases.  The goal is for each resident to eventually garner ample experience to become the primary surgeon during surgeries and to be able to independently operate.
