Current Focus:

After completing a postdoctoral appointment at U of L in Undergraduate Medical Education, Dr. Roberson joined the department as a teaching faculty in 2016.   Her primary interests and responsibilities are in Undergraduate Medical Education, where she teaches bacterial and fungal infections content to first and second year medical students and is Co-Course Director for the 2nd year medical student courses (Human Systems in Health and Disease 1 and 2). Additional responsibilities include: teaching microbial content in both dental and graduate school courses and serving as the departmental contact for Medical Student Research, the departmental representative for Faculty Forum, and as a member of several SOM committees that assess the medical education curriculum and promote student success.

The foundational principles of Dr. Roberson’s teaching philosophy are two-fold:

1)     A personal commitment toward excellence in education that includes continuous self-improvement and lifelong learning; and

2)     A commitment to student success by developing students who can think critically and independently, and creating a learning environment that builds confidence and competence.

In addition to teaching and service, Dr. Roberson is the recipient of several teaching awards and recognitions (determined by the students) including: Golden Apple Teaching awards (class of 2021, class of 2023, class of 2024), American Medical Women’s Association Gender Equity awards (U of L chapter: 2020 and 2021), Faculty Favorite Nominee (21-22),  and Student Champion (22-23).
