Clinical Programs

The University of Louisville Department of Medicine Global Health Initiative consists of several "Programs of Excellence" that excel in comprehensive care of HIV patients, vaccine and international travel medicine, and refugee health and immunization.

  • GHI montageComprehensive Care for HIV Patients - Medical providers, pharmacists, medical case managers, and mental health case managers provide routine care for more than 1,700 HIV-positive patients.

  • International Travel Medicine - This component of the Department of Medicine Global Health Initiative concentrates on provisions of pre-travel counseling and intervention.

  • Refugee Health & Immunization - Our Refugee Health and Immunization program is a classic example of patient/family centered health care. Achieving patient engagement is our primary goal in the Department of Medicine Global Health Initiative.

  • Civil Surgeon Clinic - Civil surgeon examinations for refugees resettled to Kentucky through the KY office of Refugees/Catholic Charities can be provided as part of the Department of Medicine Global Health Initiative.

  • Vaccine & Interprofessional Practice Clinic - Focuses on clinical teamwork and team-based care necessary to provide vaccines in a safe, high quality, accessible, and patient-centered fashion.
