Resident schedules are structured as a 4 + 2 + 2 (X+Y) schedule

 

Call & Night Float Requirements

  • Residents: 24 hour call every four (4) days
  • Interns: 24 hour call every five (5) days
University Hospital: CCU
  • Residents: 24 hour call every four (4) days
  • Interns: 24 hour call every four (4) days
University & VA WardsEvery 4th day call (call shifts last 12 hours on Sundays through Thursdays and 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays)
VA: ICU & Cardiology
  • Residents: 24 hour call every four (4) days
  • Interns: 12 hour call every four (4) days
ElectivesNo call, unless assigned to weekend coverage
Night FloatProvides coverage 7 p.m - 7 a.m. for ward and ICU/cardiology teams Sunday-Thursday

**UofL Health - UofL Hospital ward teams receive additional support from nurse clinicians and a non-teaching hospitalist service.

► Interns will take a total of approximately 12 overnight calls during the entirety of the intern year.
