A goal of the University of Louisville Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes is to develop a Center of Excellence for patient care, teaching and research in the field of diabetes.

Approximately 8.5% of the population of Kentucky is diagnosed with diabetes ranking us 7th in the nation with the highest percentage of adults with diabetes, and at least one-third of people living with diabetes don't know that they have the disease.

Diabetes and its complications account for roughly 16% of total hospitalizations. It is well established that improved blood sugar control lowers the risk for diabetes complications.

Private support is essential for us to establish a Diabetes center for patients in Louisville and the surrounding region.

Contributions will support educational programs to help increase awareness and improve the health outcomes for patients living with diabetes.

Gifts will allow us to obtain state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, and donations fund innovative new research projects that will allow University of Louisville researchers to better understand and discover new treatments for diabetes.
