Career Interests

I'll be pursuing a noninvasive career in general cardiology with a clinical focus in cardio-oncology.

Biography

I was born in Southern California, but relocated to Huntington, WV, early in life, which is where I consider home. I played music throughout my childhood and early adulthood, but ultimately had to hang that up (temporarily) to focus on a path to medicine. I met my wife (Caitlyn) in college right before I started medical school, and we later went on the cross-country adventure to Portland, OR, for residency where we made countless life-long friends. Making a short pit stop back closer to family was always high on the list during fellowship years, but we plan on moving back westward when we're finished training. We enjoy craft beer, bourbon, good food, hiking, all-terrain obstacle course races, and dogs.

In His Words

The bourbon culture here is incredible and absolutely fascinating. Louisville has definitely nurtured that hobby, which I'll take wherever I go for life. The month leading up to the Kentucky Derby (which is typically the first Saturday in May in the absence of a global pandemic) really brings out the life in the city. Also, under normal circumstances, this is truly a great college sports town with football game day and March Madness times of year a ton of fun.

Louisville also has great hikes near and surrounding the city and a solid craft beer scene (again, we trained in Portland). It's a great place to train, where a clinical focus is on the forefront, and general fellows are the first-line for all the cool stuff. It’s routine to be managing mechanical circulatory support in your first year of training. I definitely feel prepared for next steps right around the corner.
