The Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the University of Louisville has a long history of excellence and places keen emphasis on education. We continue to be the forerunners in cardiac assist devices and clinical excellence. We have made remarkable developments in laboratory research.
Our research program, housed in the new Cardiovascular Innovation Institute is a collaborative endeavor of the School of Medicine, the Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and Jewish Hospital. Working in state-of-the-art facilities and using some of the world’s most sophisticated technology, has enabled our cardiothoracic surgeons to be leaders in the diagnosis, treatment, and discovery of heart disease. UCSA physicians are often turned to for creating the next steps in cardiovascular surgery, literally defining the leading edge of the field.
This entire program has benefited enormously from its affiliation and association with Jewish Hospital and St. Mary’s Healthcare along with Kosair Children’s Hospital, benchmarking our undeniable success in adult and pediatric heart and lung care.
