Anesthesiology Critical Care Fellowship

The Anesthesia Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Louisville is an ACGME-accredited one-year program which provides a comprehensive, diverse critical care training opportunity in  the region’s major tertiary referral center and only level one trauma center.  The primary site of training is at The University of Louisville Hospital with additional training at adjacent Jewish Hospital.  Following satisfactory completion, the fellows will be well versed in evidence-based critical care practice and will be eligible for board certification.

Core rotations for the fellowship include the CVICU, Neuro ICU, Trauma/Surgical ICU, and Burn ICU. In addition to the nine months of core ICU rotations, the fellowship offers a vast array of electives such as TTE/TEE, palliative care, MICU, and nutrition. In the ICUs, the fellows will be responsible for participating in multidisciplinary rounds, formulating care plans, and facilitating communication between the critical care team and surgical services, consultants, and family members.  Fellows are encouraged to pursue academic projects during their fellowship including a quality improvement initiative, clinical or basic science research, and participation in anesthesia and critical care grand grounds.
