Mission Statement

The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is an academic and clinical department at the University of Louisville comprised of professional physicians, nurses, and scientists. Our mission is to develop exceptional perioperative consultant physicians who are compassionate, intellectually curious, collaborative leaders who advocate for policies that promote patient safety.

Vision Statement

The Department is to be a recognized authority in the evaluation and treatment of patients requiring perioperative medical care, including General Anesthesia, Trauma Anesthesia, Obstetric Anesthesia, Cardiothoracic Anesthesia, Pediatric Anesthesia, Regional anesthesia, Neuroanesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Management, which provides superior education for residents and fellows in the medical discipline and practice of Anesthesiology and its related specialties
