Attend "What Hue Are You?" to learn more about how you communicate with your coworkers and how you approach your work. Even if you have attended a similar workshop, you can become a more efficient communicator and team member and see if your perspective has changed from previous personality tests!

• Understanding the extent of burnout among health professionals and how this disables compassionate caring
• The neuroscience of the deep connection between health professionals and patients
• How a healing connection profoundly changes the biology of patients, including genetic regulation
• The remarkable positive impact of compassionate caring on clinical outcomes, resource utilization and costs
• The need for health professionals to heal themselves and support each other
• A call to action: making a profound commitment to caring for our own and working together to establish an Institute for Health and Happiness to support all those who work in healthcare/education

Dr. Youngson is founder of “Hearts in Healthcare,” a global social movement for health professionals, students, patient activists, and all those passionate about re-humanizing healthcare. Dr. Youngson provided the keynote address at the launch of Compassionate Louisville’s Healthcare Constellation event, has presented to Leadership Louisville, and was the Mayor’s guest at the Festival of Faiths. He is a Sr. Lecturer at Auckland University, an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Compassionate Healthcare, and a Fellow at the International Center for Compassionate Organizations. Dr. Youngson is also the author of “Time to Care,” an evidence-based book that challenges all healthcare professionals to love patients and their jobs, and bring true compassion to their care.

The Diversity Imperative

The AAMC has made pointed efforts to integrate diversity and inclusion in medical education; however, success in this area has been elusive. Diversity efforts require strategic focus in order to integrate the experiences of all members of the university community. This presentation will explore the value of diversity in the training of physicians for 21st century medicine and strategies to develop a framework for effective diversity initiatives. 

David McIntosh (Assistant Dean for Diversity, Texas A&M College of Medicine) will present "The Diversity Imperative: The Enduring Importance of Cultural Competence in Medical Education".
