Deanna D. Philpott

Principal Consultant, People Strategy Consulting

Deanna is the founder and Principal Consultant of People Strategy Consulting (PSC), a consulting firm that partners with companies to assess and grow their leaders and engage their people to do their best. She has over 20 years of experience in leading organizational change, human resources management and talent development. Her corporate experience includes leadership roles for a Fortune 50 company as an organizational development consultant and corporate trainer, as well as serving as a Vice President of Human Resources for a publicly traded company. Deanna, a certified executive coach, leads a consulting team that specializes in the design and delivery of leadership initiatives and leadership coaching, the development of high performance, team-based company cultures, strategic and operational planning and organizational change management. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a Master’s degree from California State University.

Director, Office of Academic Technology

Kent is the director of the School of Medicine Office of Academic Technology at the University of Louisville, a position he has held since 2010, before that he was the Technology Coordinator for the School from 2004.  Kent started in the technology field in the private sector in 1987 and worked as an I.S. manager for a medium sized company specializing in computer controlled digital audio routing and announcement systems until 2000.  After a brief stint as a private consultant, Kent took a position in technology with U of L’s Medical School in 2001.  His team currently provides support to over 600 medical students, academic support to the Medical School faculty and administration including assistance in curricular development, management of the Curriculum Database and all other academic technologies, manage all classrooms for the Medical School and the Nursing School, and manage video conferencing and cloud based learning spaces for the University.  Kent also represents the School of Medicine in all strategic level technical discussions with the University and outside entities.

 David Aylor

Assistant Director, Instructional Technology

David serves as the Assistant Director of Instructional Technology for the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He has been working in the Audio Visual and Information Technology fields for nine years. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelors of Science in Audio Production. He began his professional work as the Technical Director for a university fine arts center, and then transitioned his career path into the corporate show A/V industry as a Production Manager, providing production technology for corporate, presidential, and celebrity events. David now brings his depth of experience, technical skills, and management capabilities to his team of Learning Space Technologists who install, operate, and maintain classroom technology for the medical school.

Instructional and Student Support Technologist

Josh comes to the School of Medicine as the new Instructional & Student Support Technologist from UofL's College of Education where he worked in the Education Technology Resource Center since 2000 in various roles. He currently provides support to over 600 medical students, academic support to the Medical School faculty. He enjoys traveling even on his very basic 1985 Honda motorcycle. He always loves exploring new technologies. He also is active in different charities from a wild cat rescue outside Knoxville, TN. to raising money and riding in the Distinguished Gentlemen's Motorcycle Ride

Sam Miller, PhDKaren Hughes Miller

Associate Professor, Graduate Medical Education

Dr. Karen Hughes Miller, known to her friends as “Sam”, has more than 40 years’ experience in education, 15 of which are in medical education and education research. She is the Chair Elect of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Southern Group on Education Affairs (SGEA) and serves on the AAMC Research in Medical Education (RIME) Selection Committee. She especially enjoys teaching faculty development sessions and non-clinical courses to residents. She is a long-time Louisville resident, an avid thoroughbred horseracing fan, and married to David W. Miller of the Healthcare Strategy Group, LLC.

 Lisa Cooper

Information Security and Compliance Analyst

Information Security Office, University of Louisville

Lisa Cooper has worked in the Information Security Office as an Information Security and Compliance Analyst for over a year. During that time she has conducted training sessions throughout the campus community for over 500 faculty, staff and students. In addition to being a graduate of the University of Louisville, Lisa also has over 20 years of experience working at the University in clinical, technical, and information assurance roles. Much of her experience stems from her time working in the Enterprise Security area of Information Technology. This is where she acquired over ten years of knowledge resulting in a collection of the most common technical mistakes made by campus users. With this information she has developed easy to follow actions that can be shared to help others avoid them. She explains the necessity of protecting information. Lisa will also cover technical solutions such as encryption, virus protection, patching, and passwords.  Her experience and problem solving expertise allows her to utilize real life examples making the subject matter relatable. The audience will receive usable information security solutions in a format that any skill level can understand.

 Patricia Benson

Director, Get Healthy Now

Patricia Benson is the Director of the University of Louisville’s award winning health management program, Get Healthy Now. The health management program is an integral part of a comprehensive benefit package offered to University employees. This successful initiative was implemented under Patricia’s leadership in 2005 as a healthcare-cost containment strategy and has received local, state, and national recognition as a highly effective health management model. UofL’s demonstrated impact on the bottom line coupled with high employee engagement and retention in the wellness program for ten consecutive years provide ample evidence of Patricia’s steadfast leadership and drive to build a sustainable program with measurable impact. In the early years, Patricia aligned the employee wellness program to support the President’s seven-point fiscal management strategy and transformed the medical plan, previously referred to as underperforming, to a performing asset. The year-over-year success of Get Healthy Now ultimately led to 1.3 million dollar renovation of a state of the art wellness facility dedicated to all employees and alumni of UofL and the national recognition of UofL’s President, Dr. James Ramsey, as the recipient of the 2014 HERO Jerry Noyce Executive Health Champion Award.

Prestigious recognitions secured through Patricia’s efforts include the National and Southern Region Award of Excellence in HR Practice from the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR); American Heart Association Platinum Start! ‘Fit-friendly’ recognition; Business First Healthiest Employer of Louisville award, American Heart Association Corporate Leadership Award and the Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Worksite Wellness Veteran Award.

Patricia completed her Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Health Promotion and Master of Education with a concentration in Fitness and Wellness at the University of Louisville.

 Jan Anderson

Clinical Professional Counselor

Dr. Jan Anderson is a licensed clinical professional counselor with a doctorate in psychology. She is in private practice counseling individuals, couples, and families, in Louisville, Kentucky, and is a featured columnist for M.D. Update. One of the things that is different about Dr. Jan is her real-world experience working for Fortune 500 companies and her holistic expertise in mindfulness and the mind-body connection.

Dr. Jan tailors research-based approaches in a way that is intuitive and innovative - so her clients can attract and keep relationships that are good for them, handle difficult people without becoming part of the problem, and spend more time enjoying life.

 Denise M. Cumberland

Assistant Professor, Organizational Leadership and Learning

Denise M. Cumberland is an Assistant Professor in the Organizational Leadership and Learning Program at the University of Louisville. Her area of expertise is organizational development.  She has a passion for helping organizations uncover practices, processes, and procedures that illuminate and elevate how individuals, teams, and groups can more effectively work together.  Dr. Cumberland facilitates workshops on topics such as change, conflict management, communication strategies, innovation, and teamwork. She received her PhD from the University of Louisville.

 Pradip Patel

Professor, Department of Pediatrics

 

 Rodney Brannon

Consultant, Human Development Company

Rodney Brannon has been serving as a consultant for Human Development Company for over ten years. His work includes providing a wide range of training programs from Organizational Development to Compliance issues, such as Harassment and Diversity.  In addition, he also conducts mediation and provides individual and family counseling. Rodney received his undergraduate degree from Spalding University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and then completed his graduate degree from the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville.

 Joseph G. D'Ambrosio

Director of Community Engagement, Institute of Sustainable Health & Optimal Aging

Assistant Professor, School of Medicine

Dr. D'Ambrosio's work and community based research is focused on sustainable health initiatives for older adults. His efforts promote intersecting workforce, infrastructure, funding, self-governance, management and community leadership through the lens of compassion. He has presented over 40 peer-reviewed presentations at national conferences and has co-authored a number of articles on aging and community engagement related to health initiatives. His research focuses on evidenced based biopsychosocial interventions and include studies funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Passport Health. His interest is in uncovering individual strength and resilience that fosters social sustainability through intentional and deliberate actions of compassion within the healthcare system. He is a Compassion Science Laureate Compassionate Louisville.

 Anna Faul

Executive Director, Institute of Sustainable Health & Optimal Aging

Professor, Associate Dean Academic Affairs, Kent School of Social Work

Hartford Faculty Scholar

Dr. Faul's 32-year career has been dedicated to helping older adults live productive and healthy lives across the lifespan. She has been awarded 16 awards for excellence in teaching, has published numerous peer reviewed articles and book chapters and has presented over 70 peer-reviewed national presentations. Her research focuses on implementation of evidenced based biopsychosocial interventions and include studies funded by the National Institute on Aging, the Hartford Foundation and the New York Academy of Medicine, the Hartford Foundation and Gerontological Society of America, Department of Health and Human Services, The Kentucky Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services, Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Passport Health. Building on her collectivist upbringing in South Africa Dr. Faul infuses compassion to guide her work in healthcare. She is a Compassion Science Laureate Compassionate Louisville. Her interests remain centered on social sustainability that promotes cohesion of society and individuals working toward common goals while fulfilling mutual goals fostered through a lens of compassionate love.

 Glenn Bossmeyer

Associate University Council

Glenn D. Bossmeyer is Associate University Counsel at the University of Louisville and has been an attorney with the University for eighteen years.  Prior to that he was an attorney and assistant secretary at Humana Inc. for twenty-two years, for a total of forty years practice as a health care attorney.  During his tenure at Humana, he represented Humana in the lease and affiliation agreement of University Hospital with the University, and has therefore been involved with the Health Sciences Center since the affiliation agreement and lease were signed on January 27, 1983.

His educational background includes graduating from Christ the King Elementary School and Flaget Memorial High School in Louisville, Kentucky.  He attended the University of Louisville, graduating from the School of Business as valedictorian with a B.S.C. degree and a major in accounting, from the School of Law with a J.D. degree, and from the Graduate School with a M.B.A. degree.

His professional qualifications include having passed the Uniform Certified Public Account Examination (Ky.), being a licensed Real Estate Broker in Kentucky, and being admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, as well as before the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, the 6th United States Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

 Jodie Tingle-Willis

Owner, Supreme Peace Yoga

Jodie Tingle-Willis is a 200 hour Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Reiki Master. She loves blending these practices in order to share the positive, healing, and life changing benefits they bring into people's lives.

In 2005, she reluctantly agreed to attend a yoga class and immediately fell in love with the practice. Yogic living has helped her successfully manage stress and live a healthy, balanced life. She is passionate about sharing these same benefits with you.

She gets so excited when her students walk in the door with special requests to teach a class that will help them care for an injury or strengthen a particular area. She loves the challenge of designing classes that meet the needs of each person that walks in the door. Some of her favorite yogic principles are: letting go of competition and comparison, practicing self compassion, and remembering we are all beginners.
