W. Daniel Cogan, Ed.D., FAODME
W. Daniel Cogan, Ed.D., FAODME provides leadership for the Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development office team of program and education specialists.
In addition to providing general direction for Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development (CME&PD), Dr. Cogan also maintains the accreditation status for the School of Medicine’s ACCME-approved programming and oversees provision of nursing continuing education credit as well. He is also responsible for working closely with the various SOM departments and third-party CME developers as well as enhancing relationships with commercial interests. Further, Dr. Cogan oversees the marketing of the accredited programs, develops the CME&PD annual budget, develops center policies and assesses the overall effectiveness of Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development programming. Working with U of L faculty/physicians and the CME&PD Advisory Board, Dr. Cogan provides leadership in the planning, development, and coordination of CME courses and directs the collection of assessment data and medical practice outcomes. He serves on, or delegates other staff for, each of the curriculum committees of all the CME&PD accredited courses as well as providing oversight for the CME&PD website and daily operations of the center. Dr. Cogan administers a staff of three CME professionals and coordinates the functions and support of the CME&PD Advisory Board consisting of more than twenty academic medicine professionals.
Dr. Cogan did his undergraduate and master’s degree studies in public school administration at the University of Central Missouri. He then completed his doctoral work at Texas A&M University in 1981 in higher education curriculum and instructional design. Prior to his appointment at UofL Dr. Cogan was Director of Academic Affairs and Accreditation at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has served in various medical education roles including continuing education, postdoctoral training administration and medical student clerkship administration. Dr. Cogan is married to Glenda and they have two children and six grandchildren.

Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development Coordinator
James joined Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development in 2009. He is responsible for assisting the office with planning, coordinating with internal and external offices concerning educational courses and data dissemination; creates webpages for the CME&PD office and CME programs, working closely with program directors; updates the CME&PD web site as necessary, including Grand Rounds and Calendar Events; develops online registration and certificates for CME programs; develops program brochures for CME customers to be used in promotions; coordinates the development of online CME courses; solicits exhibitors for CME&PD courses and working closely with customers on grant solicitation.
James graduated from the University of Louisville with a B.A. in Biology. Prior to coming to Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development, he was the Manager of Sales and Operations for his family’s business.
Kimberly D. Moore
Kimberly has worked for Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development since 1993. Kimberly is responsible for the office's accounting and business manager duties, handling registration at all programs, contacting speakers, contracting audio visual needs, preparing name badges, and syllabi. In addition, she tracks registrants, develops evaluations, processes honorarium, prepares transmittals for deposits, and assists with maintaining the efficient flow of the office.
Kimberly graduated from Spencerian College in 1989 with a two-year diploma in the Executive Administrative Program. She is married and has a son.
Karen L. Napolilli
Program Assistant Senior
As the CME&PD Program Assistant, Sr., Karen provides registration and program data upload for all CME sponsored courses as well as post-course evaluation management. She also has primary
responsibility for the RSS programming, including annual application procedures, monthly upload of data reports and annual evaluation of these important CME program offerings. Karen also provides assistance with physician CME transcript service and handles most telephone inquiries for our office.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education at the University of Louisville. Prior to assuming her present position with CME & PD Karen served in various administrative capacities at U of L including the Alumni Association and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Karen is married to Bob, and they have two children and one granddaughter.
