Ashanti Scott, of Louisville, Kentucky, is a member of the McConnell Scholar Class of 2023 studying political science and social change.

High School

Ashanti is a 2019 graduate of Butler Traditional High School where she earned AP Scholar with Honors and served as the Beta Club President. She was also a National Honor Society Junior Executive Officer, a Commonwealth Ambassador for the State of Kentucky and regular participant in the Kentucky Youth Assembly and Kentucky United Nations Assembly. Ashanti represented Kentucky at the American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation program.

The passion I have for politics and government is why the McConnell award fits right in with my personal interests. In addition, the knowledge I will gain from the program will help me with my vision to improve my community of West Louisville and help other communities, the environment and strive for an equitable, accountable and just society.
