Thomas Hulse, of Lexington, Ky., is a member of the McConnell Scholar Class of 2023 at the University of Louisville where he studies physics, German, mathematics, and political science.

High School

Thomas is a graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School where he was a National Merit Finalist and member of the Math, Science, and Technology Program. He participated in the Science and German national honors societies and regularly volunteered at the Lexington Public Library. He is a recipient of the Sewanee Book Award for Excellence in Writing. He was also a 2018 Kentucky Governor's Scholar.

There’s far more to learning than the stuff in classrooms and books—the most important of which come from the unique people around you. It is exciting to know that I will learn something meaningful from every one of the McConnell Scholars.
