Laura Hinkle, of Elizabethtown, Ky., is a member of the McConnell Scholar Class of 2022 at the University of Louisville. She studies political science, history and philosophy. She is a member of the University of Louisville's Honors College.

Laura Hinkle is a 2018 graduate of Elizabethtown High School, where she was captain of the debate and future problem solving teams. She was a 2017 Kentucky Governor's Scholar, a commended National Merit Scholar and editor of Teen Ink Magazine. Active in the Kentucky Youth Assembly program, she was voted the 2017 Kentucky Youth Assembly Outstanding Attorney and the 2016 Outstanding Speaker.

I am so excited to be selected as a McConnell Scholar, and I can't wait to engage in the program's unique networking, traveling, and learning opportunities. I hope to continue to grow as both an academic and leader over the next four years so that I can use my experiences to make a difference in others' lives.
