Leah Hazelwood, of Lebanon, Ky., is a member of the McConnell Scholar Class of 2022 at the University of Louisville. She is pursuing majors in political science and minors in race & gender studies and global public health.

Growing up in a small town, I discounted many of my future experiences because of my background. The McConnell Program has given me new life. I know that this program will involve me in unimaginable opportunities and provide me the necessary education, people, and capabilities to be successful on a large scale.
