About

Sydney Finley, of Louisville, Ky., is a member of the McConnell Scholar Class of 2023 at the University of Louisville where she studies Public and Professional Writing (English), Political Science under the Law and Public Policy track, and Peace, Justice & Conflict Transformation. She is a recipient of the Woodford R. Porter Scholarship, the Zeta Phi Beta Amicae scholarship, and is also an Honors Scholar and Dean's List recipient.

High School

She is a 2019 graduate from DuPont Manual High School where she was a member of Black Student Union, the Intersectionality Board, National Honors Society, and Key Club. She worked as a Youth Development Specialist at the St. Vincent dePaul Family Success Center. She graduated in the top 10 of her high school class and maintained honor roll for all 4 years of high school.

This scholarship is such an incredible door opener for students who are seeking to positively impact our future's social and political atmosphere. The connections that I have made and lessons that I have learned throughout my time as a Scholar have truly helped prepare me for my aspirations and goals after earning my undergraduate degree.
