About

Austin Terry-Lee Dillon, of Belfry, Ky., is a member of the McConnell Scholar Class of 2022 at the University of Louisville where he studies economics and political science.

He is a 2018 graduate of Belfry High School, where he was ranked first in his class, earned Belfry High School Gold Scholar distinction and graduated with summa cum laude honors. He was president of the Pike County Youth Leadership Council and received the Al Vipperman Award for the highest combined GPA and ACT score. He served as a 2018 U.S. Senate Youth Program Delegate, was elected the 2017 Kentucky Youth Assembly Speaker of the House and was a 2017 Kentucky Governor's Scholar. Austin authored the winning water quality research proposal for the University of Kentucky's Water Quality in India and Kentucky project and finished fourth in the state for the written composition competition at the 2018 Governor's Cup State Finals.

The McConnell Scholarship means much more to me than any solely monetary scholarship. I am eager to experience the mentorship as well as the growth in my academic and leadership abilities that the McConnell Center will provide. I thank God for opening the doors for this wonderful opportunity.
