Keynote Speaker: Dr. Robert Remini

Image: Robert Remini Robert Remini, professor emeritus of history and the humanities at the University of Illinois at Chicago, will be the keynote speaker at the McConnell Center's February 17, 2007, Henry Clay conference. Remini has been teaching history for more than 50 years and written books about American history for nearly as long. He wrote a three-volume biography of Andrew Jackson, and is the author of biographies of Henry Clay and Daniel Webster, as well as a dozen other books on Jacksonian America.

An array of Henry Clay scholars will also be on hand for the event, offering their insight and expertise of Clay. The conference will conclude with a dedication of the McConnell Center's Clay statue and a replica of Henry Clay's Senate desk by U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell and Dr. Robert Remini.
