Tracy named Alumnus of the Year

Connor Tracy, a 2016 graduate of the McConnell Scholars Program and current coordinator for the McConnell Center's military education programs, has been named the 2020 McConnell Scholar Alumnus of the Year.

Voted on by current students, the award is given to an alumnus who continues the program's tradition of "Leadership, Scholarship and Service" in their professional careers.

"Connor has been such a visible example of the McConnell Center's efforts to make UofL feel like home," said McConnell Scholar Garrett Kasey ('20). "For many of the scholars, Connor was the first smiling face we would see when we walked into the center, and he always made sure to ask us about our day in a caring and sincere manner. Though he is one of our youngest alumni, Connor has already made a number of positive impacts on the program."

Tracy joined the McConnell Center staff in 2017 and is pursuing his MBA at the University of Louisville. In addition to his work developing a 30-day leadership course for U.S. Army soldiers, he is the producer of two McConnell Center podcasts and regularly leads undergraduate reading sessions on works by C.S. Lewis.

Kasey, the 2019-2020 alumni chair, spearheaded the creation of the award to recognize program graduates who serve as key resources for current students.

"Primarily, we wanted a formal way to thank our alumni network for the incredible contributions they make that benefit our experience as scholars. We also wanted to use this award to encourage our alumni to keep in touch with the McConnell Center about their careers, families and other important aspects of their lives," Kasey said.
