Haque named McConnell Center 'Debate Series Champion'

Arsh Haque, a McConnell Scholar (’16) and native of Elizabethtown, Ky., was named “Debate Series Champion” for the 2013-2014 academic year at the McConnell Center.

Haque defeated fellow classmate Sam Whittaker (’16), a native of Paducah, Ky., in an overtime round. The pair debated whether prostitution should be legal. The duo debated whether love should be abolished in the overtime round.

Other debate topics included whether corporal punishment should be allowed in schools and whether the death penalty should be used as a form of capital punishment.

In addition to bragging rights, Haque will also receive a $500 scholarship.
