Aaron Vance

Aaron Vance, a McConnell Scholar (’17) at the University of Louisville, has received the Charles M. Shaw Scholarship given by the Phi Kappa Tau Foundation. Only ten such scholarships are given across the country each year.

Vance, of Vine Grove, Ky., received the scholarship based on his “academic success, commitment to the ideals of Phi Kappa Tau, and service” to the University of Louisville, his community and the local fraternity chapter. Vance is studying political science and anthropology at UofL.

According to the Phi Kappa Tau Foundation, the Charles M. Shaw scholarship is given in memory of a 1949 Phi Kappa Tau graduate from the University of California-Berkeley who became a geologist and academic. Shaw passed in 2013.

The McConnell Scholars Program is a prestigious scholarship program at the University of Louisville for 40 undergraduate students. The program covers full tuition, a fully funded study abroad to China and trip to Washington, D.C. The program also includes academic seminars, focusing on local, state, national and global issues, led by leaders in their respective fields.
