Scholar receives Etscorn International Summer Research Award

Sophomore McConnell Scholar Michael Zeller

Zeller is one of three students to receive the scholarship at the University of Louisville.

He plans to combine it with his recently-awarded Hershberg Scholarship to conduct research at the Churchill Archives at the University of Cambridge for six weeks this summer. He will explore the nature of Winston Churchill's relationship with Josef Stalin and the wider subject of Anglo-Soviet relations from 1941 to 1946. Additionally, he will visit Churchill's birthplace (Blenheim Palace), home (the Chartwell estate in Kent) and the London War Rooms. The research will comprise the bulk of Zeller’s history thesis research.

Zeller, a graduate of duPont Manual High School, is currently a sophomore McConnell Scholar at the University of Louisville. He is pursuing majors in History and Political Science as well as a minor in Russian Studies.
