McConnell Scholar Leah Hazelwood named Kentucky Derby princess

Leah Hazelwood, of Lebanon, has been named one of five princesses on the 2020 Kentucky Derby Festival Royal Court.

She is dual majoring in political science and liberal studies with concentrations in race & gender studies, global political health and economics. In addition to her participation in the McConnell Scholars Program at the University of Louisville, the 19-year-old sophomore is a Harvard Kennedy Public Policy Leadership Scholar, the College of Arts and Sciences Vice President, a member of Chi Omega Sorority, and a “children’s advocate” for the Center for Women and Families.

Joining Hazelwood on the court are: Giavanna Combs, a junior at UofL; Hannah Maria Edelen, a senior at Northern Kentucky University; Molly Jett, a senior at Bellarmine University; and Hannah Robb, a junior at Bellarmine University.
