McConnell Fellow's class featured on C-SPAN

(October 13, 2010) LOUISVILLE, Ky.- Dr. Brad Birzer, a non-resident fellow of the McConnell Center, will discuss 19th century Republicans on a C-SPAN production. The program will first air Oct. 22.

The news organization C-SPAN recorded a class lecture by Birzer covering early 19th century Republicans known as "Tertium quids" — a Latin name denoting a third party. Birzer is currently teaching a history class on Jacksonian America at Hillsdale College.

Birzer's lecture is part of an upcoming C-SPAN series on the history of America, to cover early colonial years to Sept. 11, 2001. The program will have at least 25 different professors from various universities and colleges.

"C-SPAN really has picked the right professor to show on national television," said Dr. Gary Gregg, director of the McConnell Center. "Brad is a model teacher, engaging lecturer and witty interlocutor."

The program will first air Oct. 22 and will show on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays at 8 a.m., 8 p.m. and midnight EST.
